Tomlinson blow to British indoor hopes
3 Mar 2009National long jump record holder Chris Tomlinson today withdrew from the Great Britain team for the European Indoor Championships.
Tomlinson, who has been struggling with an Achilles problem, feels he is not fully prepared to mount a challenge for the title.
“I'm not in the right shape to do myself justice in Turin,” said last year's world indoor silver medallist. “I will focus on getting fit for my warm-weather training stint in San Diego and onwards for the outdoor season.”
Yesterday, injury forced 1500 metres runner Chris Warburton, pentathlete Kelly Sotherton and long jumper Jade Johnson to also pull out of the team
