Fergie banks on United's experience
4 Mar 2009Sir Alex Ferguson is confident Manchester United will not panic if their lead in the Premier League starts to be eroded.
United visit Newcastle tonight knowing they would need to lose four of their remaining 12 matches to open the door to one of their rivals - and Fergie is backing his side to avoid that kind of implosion.
"The experience we have garnered over the years helps us," said Ferguson (right).
"We don't panic. We very seldom have. Even in games we always keep playing our football and remain patient."
Six players - Edwin van der Sar, Rafael, Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Ji-Sung Park - are due to return to the team at St James' Park tonight after missing Sunday's Carling Cup triumph.
