Flying out: Paul Collingwood is due to play in the IPL along with a number of other England stars

England IPL stars will put concern over safety ahead of pay-day

England cricketers will await further security advice before deciding whether to play in next month's Indian Premier League but Paul Collingwood has already expressed his reservations.

Tuesday's terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore heightened concerns about safety on the subcontinent, leaving Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Owais Shah and Ravi Bopara to weigh up whether to join the tournament.

"I'd be lying if I didn't say something like this raises concerns in your mind, but I'm not about to make any decisions on it - the right thing to do is to wait and see how things go from here," said Collingwood, who has been signed up by the Delhi franchise.

"As things unfold we will know more about what is being put in place by the IPL, but having been back to India before Christmas the security we had felt pretty good and at this stage I'm continuing as normal."

Meanwhile, umpires Simon Taufel and Steve Davis claimed they felt abandoned during the terrorist attacks on their van in Lahore. Davis and Taufel, who were travelling in a bus behind the Sri Lankans along with match referee Chris Broad, escaped unscathed but local umpire Ahsan Raza was hit by a bullet.

Taufel said: "You tell me why no one was caught, you tell me why supposedly 25 armed commandos were in our convoy and when the team bus got going again we were left on our own.

"Our driver had been shot dead and we were just stuck in the roundabout being pelted with bullets and whatever else they were throwing at us and there was no other security around."
