Josh Goodall will spearhead Great Britain's bid for Davis Cup victory against Ukraine after being drawn to play Ilya Marchenko in tomorrow's opening singles rubber in Glasgow.

It will be the first time world No 192 Goodall — the team's leading player following Andy Murray's withdrawl due to a virus — has played Marchenko, who is 32 places lower in the rankings.

Their match will be followed by Chris Eaton taking on Ukraine No1 Sergiy Stakovsky, who at No125 in the world is 258 places higher up the rankings than the Briton. Saturday's doubles rubber sees Ross Hutchins and Colin Fleming team up against Stakovsky and Sergei Bubka.

Sunday's singles matches will be the reverse of Friday's rubbers, with Goodall again first up against Stakovsky.

Despite Murray's absence, captain John Lloyd is feeling positive about the match.
He said: “The attitude has been as good as any team I've been involved with. No team want to be without their No1 player but the guys were just very much business as usual now'.
