Charlton are pinning their slim survival hopes on inspirational midfielder Zheng Zhi.

The China captain has recovered from a foot operation and starred for the reserves in midweek.

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson was impressed with Zheng's performance and could include him in the squad to face Watford tomorrow.

Parkinson said: "ZiZi played for the reserves and surprised himself and us with just how well he did. He's back in contention. Ideally, just playing an hour isn't enough, but we're not in an ideal situation."

Watford boss Brendan Rodgers has sent out a warning over the future of midfielder Tommy Smith. Rodgers said: "I want to work with the best players here, but if we get a big bid for him in the summer then I have to respect the situation of this club."
