Brentford manager Andy Scott today demanded justice for Nathan Elder after a challenge by Rotherham midfielder Pablo Mills left the striker unable to see from his left eye.

Elder is still in hospital with a fractured cheekbone and eye socket following the aerial tussle with Mills during Saturday's scoreless draw at the Don Valley Stadium, which left Scott furious and demanding action from the Football Association.

Referee Karl Evans took no action at the time and the FA are still awaiting his report.

However, Scott believes Mills used an elbow and wants the FA to punish the player severely. Scott said: "At the time of the incident with Pablo, it looked as though Nathan had been caught by an elbow but I was reluctant to make accusations until I had seen the replay.

"Having reviewed the tape, I was shocked to see the reason for Nathan fracturing his eye socket and also his cheekbone.

"It was caused by an elbow right in view of the referee, yet no action was taken at the time.

"As his manager, I feel it my duty to the club and to every player that it does not go unpunished - and I will be doing everything possible to ensure that justice is done."

Scott revealed that Elder is due to remain at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield "for a few more days" before returning to London to see a specialist.

But Scott admits the early signs were worrying for the 21-year-old.

He added: "Nathan took the full impact of the challenge on his eyeball, he has no vision in his left eye and is unlikely to have vision for several months.

"However, they will not be able to determine anything else until the swelling goes down."

Standard Sport contacted Rotherham about the incident but nobody at the south Yorkshire club was available for comment.
