Brutal Froch will jet to US for Taylor fight
11 Mar 2009Carl Froch is to defend his World Boxing Council super-middleweight title next month against American Jermain Taylor.
The unbeaten 31-year-old from Nottingham's clash in Mashantucket, Connecticut, on 25 April, will be his first in the US.
"This isn't a case of a fighter on the way up taking advantage of a big name on the way out or two old timers cashing in. This is a real fight," said Froch's promoter, Mick Hennessy. "These are two of the world's finest fighters, both at the peak of their powers."
Froch won the belt in December after a thrilling and brutal win over Canadian Jean Pascal. Taylor, 30, became mandatory challenger with his points victory over Jeff Lacy in November.
