Keothavong falls in Wells
12 Mar 2009Anne Keothavong's debut in the main draw of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells ended in 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 defeat by Olga Govortsova.
The British No1, ranked seven places higher than her Belarussian opponent at 51, broke serve three times as she stormed through the first set.
Govortsova needed one break to take the match into a decider and the 20-year-old was rampant in the third set as Keothavong's serve deserted her.
The 25-year-old Londoner broke into the world's top 50 for the first time in February after reaching two WTA Tour semi-finals in four tournaments.
