Danny Cipriani
Give him a chance: Lawrence Dallaglio has appealed to his former team-mates to get on with Danny Cipriani

Dallaglio tells his friends to stop attacking Cipriani

12 Mar 2009

Lawrence Dallaglio today called on his World Cup winning team-mates to stop denigrating Danny Cipriani.

Will Greenwood and Mike Catt are the latest ex-internationals to attack Cipriani, who is finding it impossible to break back into the England team despite improved form for Wasps.

Cipriani (right) was rushed back after an ankle injury for the autumn internationals and has since been accused of being unpopular with other players by Greenwood, while Catt had a confrontation with him after Sunday's match with London Irish.

Dallaglio, an ambassador for Greene King IPA, said: "There are a lot of people knocking him at the moment including my mates Catty and Will and they don't know what's going on behind closed doors. It's very easy to be the finished article at the end of your career and they don't know the life that Danny lives and it's about time he was given an opportunity to show what he can do on a rugby pitch."

Spot on Dallaglio! The older players should not air their dirty laundry/negative opinions in the public arena ..... in reality what does it achieve apart from the obvious (sell newspapers) .... they should be offering advice and encouragement to younger players ..... and if they dont agree with something then speak out but not via a tv or newspaper interview ... Lawrence is bang on .... give Cipriani the right support and advice and we "could" end up getting one of the best fly halves in Europe.

Whats the problem. He should concentrate on Wasps and hope the dreaded call never comes.
