On the up: Ledley King says Spurs should be aiming for fifth place next season

The 'Big Four' should fear us warns King

Ledley King reckons Tottenham will be the main challengers to the Premier League's 'Big Four' next season - and claims that no longer being captain has boosted his form.

After Sunday's 2-1 win at Villa Park, Spurs are now odds-on to avoid relegation and King believes a fifth-placed finish next term is well within their grasp. King said: "With the players we have, I don't see why we can't do that. We haven't lost to Manchester United, Liverpool or Chelsea in the League this season.

"That proves we can compete and perform, it is just the consistency. If we can get consistency, win games and pick up points away from home on a regular basis, we can be a top side.

King's ongoing knee problems mean he can play only one game per week, and he admitted: "When you can't play and you're captain, you feel a responsibility to be out there. So perhaps not being captain has taken the pressure off."

Melly, we have been putting up with it for years, and we don't expect it to stop anytime soon.

Tottenham Hotspur are the only thing stopping Man City being the laughing stock of the country.

Ledley you could easily be playing in the Championship next season what are you on about? This is part of the issue with Spurs .... totally dillusional ..... the players, management, owners and fans ..... they are all loopy ..... while other clubs in London since the conception of the Premiership have actually won titles (Arsenal, Shelsea), and are challenging for them all the time you are throwing money away, never challenging for championships and because of successes achieved decades ago you still think you have a divine right to "challenge the big 4" .... wake up Ledley & Spurs .... Top 4 Challengers! Its a joke!

I bet they're quaking in their boots already. But...wait....didn't they do that at the start of this season when it was mean't to be your breakthrough year. No, sorry, I mean't the year before ... crikey .. i"m confused .... it was the year before ... no .. yes ... what ... you've spent how much and have actually gone backwards ... no ... yes!

Was Ledley being serious? If we can do all that we would be Chelsea or Man U. Problem is we don't. Never have and, with our top stars always being poached by the top clubs every time they start playing well for us, never will. Ah! But to dream the impossible dream.

All the Bosnan ruling ever did for football was to make sure the same four clubs play each other for the same trophies each season. Good for some footballers, terrible for the rest, the fans and for English football at international level.
