On top form: Jobi McAnuff has been 'outstanding recently' according to Watford manager Brendan Rodgers

Jobi's just the job for Watford

Brendan Rodgers has told Jobi McAnuff to prove he is one of the Championship's top talents.

The Hornets are closing in on Championship safety and, as they head to Cardiff tonight, McAnuff has been told to light up Ninian Park.

The winger was not featuring in the side when Rodgers took over in November but has turned around the season with some dazzling displays.

Rodgers said: "For whatever reason he wasn't playing when I arrived but he's got big talent and has been outstanding recently."

Jay DeMerit hopes to recover from a calf problem to win a place on the bench.

Macanuff has been outstanding since Rodgers came in - fair play to the manager.

Surely our manager is joking. Jobi McAnuff only woke up when he was about to be loaned out to Charlton! Perhaps he is trying to talk him up in order to dispose of him in the summer. McAnuff is our top wage earner with 12 months left on his current deal come June, so it is going to be difficult to get another club to take him on.
