Marching orders: Didier Digard was given a red card for jumping into a challenge on Borja Valero

Boro hit with £6,000 fine for Albion antics

26.03.09

The Football Association fined Middlesbrough £6,000 today after the club admitted a charge of "failing to control their players" during their defeat at West Brom in January.

Angry Boro players surrounded referee Mark Halsey after he dismissed Didier Digard for jumping into a challenge on Borja Valero.

Boro were trailing 2-0 when the Frenchman was sent off in the 63rd minute and they conceded a further goal against their relegation rivals at The Hawthorns.

The FA have suspended £2,000 of the fine until the end of next season, pending their players committing the same offence again.
