Togo and Arsenal at odds over Emmanuel Adebayor
James Olley27 Mar 2009
Emmanuel Adebayor could find himself in a club-versus-country row after Togo confirmed the Arsenal striker will play in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday.
A hamstring injury means Adebayor has not played for Arsene Wenger's side since the start of February and he is not due back to action until after the international break.
However, he still travelled to Africa ahead of the clash with Cameroon and Togo coach Jean Thissen said: "Ade did not come here for nothing, he is here to play in the game. He is the main man for the national team. He is my captain, the nation can count on him.
"He has always given his best for the country so he will be a boost to the squad. He is a wonderful player."
Meanwhile, AC Milan are set to launch a summer raid for Gael Clichy after he hinted he could be interested in a move to Italy.
Carlo Ancelotti is understood to have identified the defender as Paolo Maldini's long-term replacement and the club are buoyed by the Frenchman's response.
Although Clichy, 23, insists he is enjoying life at Emirates Stadium, his appreciation of Milan's interest has left the door open for a bid thought to be in the region of £12million.
"I am very happy at Arsenal," said the left-back. "It is true AC Milan are a great club. It is flattering to know you are followed by such a team."

No one seems to be maoning about Bendtner now??? RVP, Eduardo, Bendtner, Vela are the future of Arsenal! Sell Adeybaor and buy a top central defender with the money!

i ope he gets more injured and is out for the rest of the season and then sold to some other mug club that can pay him stupid amounts of money to miss every chance he gets in front of goal!

Wenger should sell him,he didnt want to be with us at the start of the season,i personally think he is highly overrated and would be glad to see the back of him,he ego is to much for a player of average quality.

Arsenal are coping very nicely without Adebayor, who has had a poor season. His attitude since the summer has been appaling & its time to sell him.

seems like Adebayor has conned his way to Togo only to put his health at risk - looks like a wantaway.
How you can take Gael's comment to mean intent to leave is on par with Saddam Hussein's info minister - what bunkum!!

I have a feeling Wenger could care less about Ade playing for Togo. He hasn't been playing him and frankly the team doen't seem to need him now. Remeber, this is a guy who was totally disinterested before he got injured.

If Togo wants Adebayor they shoul pay his wages till he returns to Arsenal any additional injuries he receives they pay his wages till heis fit.
This should be a ruling for all countries they pay the wages for the time they have the players.
