Lewis Hamilton tells Jenson Button he's in no mood to relinquish title

1 Apr 2009

Lewis Hamilton has warned Jenson Button that he won't give up his world title without a fight.

The reigning champion steered his poor-performing McLaren to third at the Australian Grand Prix while Brawn GP stole the headlines with Button winning ahead of team-mate Rubens Barrichello.

McLaren are working round the clock to improve their car and Hamilton insists he will do all he can to put pressure on Button, starting with Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix. "I'm a fighter," he said. I've learned to never give up, on and off the track.

"We showed in Brazil last year that we would always fight until the end and we showed it again in Melbourne. I'll never give up when I'm in the cockpit.

"I'm looking forward to getting closer to the front and mixing it with the leaders again.

"We're a world-class team. I'm so confident that we'll get back to the front soon."
