Clinton Morrison insists he wants to make an emotional homecoming to Crystal Palace - but not this summer.

The Coventry striker returns to Selhurst Park tonight for the first time since quitting last June aiming to gun down the club where he made 316 appearances and scored 113 goals.

The former Ireland international has already set his sights on a more permanent return before hanging up his boots so he can overhaul Ian Wright's post-war scoring record of 117.

But Morrison admits he will not be returning this summer, as he expects to be handed a new contract by Coventry boss Chris Coleman.

He said: "I managed to equal Mark Bright's record so now I want to break Ian Wright's. In fact, I'm going to say I will break Ian Wright's record. Even if I have to come back when I'm 35 or 36.

"The manager has said he will have a word with me about a new deal and I am very happy here."
