Joe Kinnear set to return for pre-season

9 Apr 2009

Newcastle have Joe Kinnear will be fit in time for pre‑season training having passed his latest tests following a triple heart bypass.

The manager has been in hospital since February and, after struggling under caretaker coaches Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood, the club put Alan Shearer in charge for the final eight games of the season.

Newcastle's record goalscorer insists he will then leave and the club believe Kinnear will be okay to return this summer.

Managing director Derek Llambias said: “Joe had his tests on Monday and the doctors were pleased with him.

“He's lost two stone in weight and has passed all his tests with flying colours. He's on the mend — in two months' time he should be fully fit.”

It won't happen, not now Shearer, who has been hanging around like a bad smell for the last couple of years at the Toon has elbowed his way in. The hero will be there to try to lead the team to promotion to the Premier League. But like all the rest of the ex players trying to be managers will fail miserably. And what about the other perennial loser Ian Dowie Whats he doing there.LOL.
