Good times: Mark Schwarzer spent 11 years at Middlesbrough

Mark Schwarzer's Middlesbrough worry

David Smith

Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer says he has mixed emotions about making a return to Middlesbrough following his summer move to Fulham.

Schwarzer played 367 games during an 11-year career at Boro that included winning the League Cup and reaching the final of the UEFA Cup. But the Australian goes back to the Riverside tomorrow knowing that a Fulham win will seriously add to his former club's relegation plight.

He said: "It's going to be very strange for me. I had some great times at Middlesbrough. It would have been much better going back with Boro in a better position. Hopefully, they can stay up."

Fulham defender Brede Hangeland, a possible summer target for Arsenal and Liverpool, is to be offered a new contract.
