Return of the world's fastest man: Usain Bolt has confirmed he will run at Crystal Palace in July — his first appearance in London since winning three gold medals at the Olympics

Usain Bolt: I will put on a show

20 Apr 2009

Triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt will compete in the 100metres at Crystal Palace in July.

The fastest man in the world will be the star attraction at the two-day Aviva London Grand Prix.

This will be Bolt's first race in the capital since last year's Beijing Olympics where victories in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay saw him become the first athlete to claim three golds and three world records at a single Games.

Bolt will run on 24 July and sees the meeting as key to his preparations for the Berlin World Championships three weeks later. The 22-year-old Jamaican said: "As usual there will be strong competition but I guess that's what I'll need ahead of the World Championships.

"This will be my fifth year in a row at Crystal Palace. On the previous occasions I've ran in the 200m so it will be good to see what I can do in the 100m. I'm sure I'll put a show on for the fans."
