Tough task: Guus Hiddink's men will play Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League

Treble still on the agenda for confident Guus Hiddink

Guus Hiddink has claimed Chelsea remain on course to win a remarkable Treble.

Hiddink's men face a dress rehearsal for the FA Cup Final when they take on Everton tomorrow night and play Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League next week.

Chelsea are four points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United and Hiddink said: “When I came in February, the aim was to secure qualification for the Champions League, but you cannot be happy just with that.

“Everyone did as I expected after I came in, so bit by bit, you make your aims and your targets a bit higher. That's what we're doing.

“If you had said in February that we would be playing the FA Cup final on 30 May, people might have raised their eyebrows. But now it is accessible, and it's the same with the other competitions.”

United, Liverpool and Arsenal all favour a rotation policy at this stage of the season, with United and Liverpool battling for the Premier League, and the former also playing Arsenal for a place in the Champions League final.

Yet Hiddink today dropped a strong hint that he is unlikely to adopt such an approach.

The Dutchman said: “I might rotate some parts of the team during a game, but I will not use squad rotation as a system. Physical fatigue is related to mental fatigue. Some players will always tell you they are ready to play, even when they may not be, whereas there are others that maybe you have to push harder.”

Meanwhile, Michael Mancienne said today he is hoping to be called upon to mark Lionel Messi in Chelsea's Champions League semi-final
first-leg in Barcelona next week.

Mancienne, who has started just two games for Chelsea, was given a trial run at left-back for the reserves against West Brom last night and said: “I would love the challenge of facing Messi. The manager came to watch and I was asked to have a go. I've never really played left-back before but it was a good challenge.”
