In with a chance: Mark Selby says he can beat Graeme Dott

Mark Selby looking for revenge over rival Graeme Dott

Mark Selby believes he can put the brakes on Graeme Dott's revival and end the 2006 winner's interest in this year's World Championship.

Dott has suffered with depression and also had an enforced absence from snooker after breaking his wrist while playing football in October. He has emerged from a barren spell on tour though and thrashed Selby when they met at the Bank of Beijing China Open this month.

The match featuring Selby, 10-6 winner against Ricky Walden yesterday, and Dott will not get start until Sunday.

Selby said: “He played really well in Beijing, and beat me 5-1 in the last 16. Hopefully, he won't play as well as he did there. But if I play like I did against Walden I've got every chance.”

Also through to the second round is Northern Ireland's Mark Allen, who looks set to retain his top-16 ranking after a 10-6 win against Martin Gould. Allen faces defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan next.
