Andrew Strauss warns star pair they face a testing time after IPL

Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff have been warned they face a "challenge" to focus on Test cricket again after playing in the Indian Premier League.

England's star players will have barely a week to re-acquaint themselves with English conditions before taking their places in the team for the First Test against West Indies, which begins at Lord's on 6 May.

Pietersen and Flintoff are two of five players - Paul Collingwood, Owais Shah and Ravi Bopara are the others - in contention to take on the tourists, and captain Andrew Strauss demands they waste no time adjusting from Twenty20 cricket to the longer form of the game.

Strauss said: "The challenge for the guys playing IPL is that they will have to adapt their game from playing Twenty20 to a Test match a week later.

"They are all good enough players to do it and they are aware of what they need to do. It is important they get enough practice time to get themselves back into the swing of English conditions and Test cricket."
