Carl Froch vows to stitch up Jermain Taylor in title showdown

Carl Froch insists he will win his first title defence when he puts his WBC super-middleweight championship belt on the line against Jermain Taylor on Saturday.

The Nottingham fighter won the vacant title from France's Jean Pascal with a unanimous points decision last December and has travelled to the United States to face the American former middleweight champion at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.

Yet while Taylor, 30, is looking to get back in the big time at 168 pounds following the loss of his 160-pound supremacy to Kelly Pavlik, Froch (right) is eager to lay down a marker for American fans.

"Jermain Taylor seems very confident," Froch said. "He's talked about being back at the No1 spot again and he's certainly very confident he's going to become WBC super-middleweight champion.

"But make no mistake, that's my belt. I'm the super-middleweight champion of the world, I'm undefeated - 24 fights and I've had knockouts in 19 of them."
