Missing out: Mark Brown finished on finish on one-over for the day

Mark Brown sees red after his late slip-up

Mark Brown hit four bogeys in his last five holes to miss out on a share of the overnight lead after the second round at the Ballantine's Championship on Korea's Jeju Island.

The New Zealander, who topped the first day leaderboard on seven under with Spain's Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, shot two birdies and no bogeys after 13 holes on day two at the Pinx Golf Club to join Robert‑Jan Derksen on nine under.

However, as the rain fell Brown's game crumbled, with his run of bogeys only broken by a birdie on the 15th to finish on one-over 73 for the day and fall back to six under overall.

Dutchman Derksen shot a 69 to take a two-shot lead over Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee (71) and Korean Kang Wook-Soon (69). Fernandez-Castano dropped to five under after a round of 74.

Derksen, who had to cope with the worst of the wind in his morning round, said: “It was a difficult day. Every par was actually a good hole and I managed to even squeeze in a few birdies.”
