Carl Froch wants clash with Joe Calzaghe

Carl Froch is desperate to take on Joe Calzaghe after staging one of the great comebacks to retain his WBC world super-middleweight title against Jermain Taylor.

Froch was dumped heavily on the canvas for the first time in his career midway through the third round of the fight at the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.

But the Briton fought back to stop his American challenger, a former undisputed middleweight champion, with just 14 seconds of the 12th and final round left.

Unbeaten Froch now wants Calzaghe to come out of retirement for a big-money clash. He said: "Calzaghe told me he would give me some respect if I beat Taylor. I've just beaten Taylor so if the respect is there, maybe the fight is there.

"Calzaghe has retired but he was talking about maybe coming out of retirement not too long ago. So maybe the fight could happen."
