Final push: Andy Frampton desperately wants Millwall to win promotion

Andy Frampton is driven on by play-off pain

27 Apr 2009

Andy Frampton is determined to ensure Millwall's promotion charge doesn't turn sour after twice failing in the play-offs with Brentford.

Kenny Jackett's side are already guaranteed a top-six finish and warmed up for the play-offs with a 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient, courtesy of a Gary Alexander double.

Left-back Frampton said: "Those semi-final defeats with Brentford were very painful, probably my worst experiences in football. To go so far after a 46-game season and then miss out is heart-breaking. I want to make sure it doesn't happen again."

Simon Church opened the scoring for Orient after Scott McGleish missed a penalty. "It's the first time I've seen him side-foot one," said boss, Geraint Williams.

Dagenham need one point from next weekend's clash with Shrewsbury to secure a play-off spot following Saturday's 3-0 win at Notts County. Sam Saunders and Matt Ritchie (two) got the goals but manager John Still singled out keeper David Button. “He has been absolutely terrific,” said Still.

Barnet manager Ian Hendon promised changes following the 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield. Hendon said: “I'm sick of people covering up for people. I've told them what I expect.”

Let's hope it's third time lucky for Andy Frampton and Millwall. Millwall's record in the last two play offs is bad record that needs changing too.
