Manny Pacquiao wont take on Amir Khan

David Smith
5 May 2009

Manny Pacquiao will be ringside when Amir Khan bids for a world title next month but the world's best boxer is unlikely to ever fight Britain's former Olympic star, writes David Smith.

Freddie Roach, who trains both men, today revealed Khan went into Pacquiao's dressing room to wish the Filipino good luck ahead of his second-round demolition of Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas.

Roach said: "Manny told Amir 'I'm coming to see you when you fight for a world title'. They spar together all the time but they're pretty good friends so I don't think we're going to see them fight each other. It would be pretty exciting if it ever did happen, but with me being trainer of both guys I'd try and prevent it."

Khan takes on Andreas Kotelnik of the Ukraine for the WBA light-welterweight title at the O2 Arena on 27 June.

No contest. Khan would be wiped out in 2 to 3 rounds.
Khan knows it and Khans trainers knows it and that is why the fight will never happen. To even mention Khan's name in the same breath as Pacquiao is a total insult to Pacquiao.

How can everyone say Khan will beat murray? Khan has been battered by prescott... murray has beaten everyone comfortably and has 14 kos out of his 27 wins!!! Khan is media hype but John looks to be the only fighter coming through who could be world champ... khan is no where near his level and will lose frequently!!!

i think firstly Amir Khan can NOT prove his crtitics wrong until he rematches presscott until then there will always remain doubts on amir khan whether he is a prtected species or not let alone if he was ever to face the pound for pound the greatest.

If KHAN ever met the PACMAN the fight would finish in 10seconds.

Khan is just media hype who prescott brutly exposed in 54 seconds.

We all klnow that sparring is totally different than the real fight and we know that in a real fight Pacman will KTFO Khan in 1 round.

Khan needs to prove himself and rematch Presscot. he is just using Pac's name to get media mileage.

Amir still raw to fight manny. he needs to fight more and have enough experience to fight a fighter with manny's caliber.if he fights manny now he'll suffer the same faith as ricky.

khan will be too much for any british fighter including murray! people are now saying if hatton was too fight again it would be against witter and not khan coz khans a 50/50 gamble..roach knws the score and we all know khan has speed in abundance and ricky is not ready for it if u think bout, but ricky obviousy has the tools to ko khan!if khan can beat kotelnik then he can beat prescott with ease..prescott should be wbc champ by then coz his fightin valero which is easy task for him!

Khan is nowehere near in the same league as the Pacquiao, Khan would get TKO'd in the 1st round. If he really wants to prove something and make critics shut up then he should fight Prescott again.
