Seeing red: Joey Barton was sent off for a bad tackle on Liverpool's Xabi Alonso

Joey Barton is ‘out’ at Newcastle after bust-up with Alan Shearer

Joey Barton's Newcastle career looks to be over after he was suspended by the club indefinitely today amid reports he almost came to blows with boss Alan Shearer following the 3-0 defeat at Liverpool.

The controversial midfielder's season was ended on Sunday after he was sent off and given a three‑match ban for his reckless challenge on Xabi Alonso.

However, Newcastle have now told Barton to stay away from the club as Shearer tries to keep them up.

A Newcastle statement said: “He has been suspended until further notice. The club will be making no further comment at the moment.”

It was reported that Barton had to be pulled away from Shearer after trading insults in the Anfield dressing room. The manager had torn into Barton for his lunge at Alonso and an insider said: “Joey shouted at Alan that he was the best player, which was why he had to play him. Alan said he wasn't, and called him s**t, and Joey responded that Alan was a s**t manager with s**t tactics.”

The source added in The Sun: “At that point, it looked like they were going to have a full-scale brawl and had to be dragged apart.”

Insiders insist that Barton will be offloaded this summer.

Signed for £5.8million by then manager Sam Allardyce in 2007 after being shown the door by Manchester City as a result of a training-ground attack on team-mate Ousmane Dabo, Barton was handed another chance.

However, Sunday's appearance was only his 32nd for the Magpies as injuries, and, his 74 days in jail after he was sentenced to six months behind bars for offences of affray and common assault, limited his availability.

Yada yada yada! Barton should have been banned years ago, as should Bellamy and a whole host of these supposedly talented but unmanageable players. The fact is that NO MATTER WHAT they do there will always be another club prepared to pay their wages and put up with outrageous behaviour that their agents, Barristers and others will trivialise to continue drinking from the gravy train that is modern football. Bravo to Shearer for trying to make a stand against this player that we all know is a toerag at heart. Shame on the FA for allowing these moral reprobates to flourish at the highest level. It's just not good enough. I also think that if a club see fit to sanction a plonker like Barton for conduct matters like these then that player should be excluded for a year from possible inclusion in the England squad and that should be made a public and publicised punishment. God help us if we ever considered Joey Barton as a possible ambassador for our country!

This says a lot for where Necastle should be heading, up or down, stick with the heart of football that is Alan Shearer.

Barton is a fool , he is a yob with a loose mouth and deserves all he gets, everywhere he has been he has been trouble, he doesnt understand the privilidges position he has, maybe if he had to work for a living instead of being paid vast sums of money to boot a ball around might help.

This player is an absolute discrace & should be banned from playing football. Its only a matter of time, before he injures a fellow professional footballer or attacks a member of the public again.
