Trophy hunt: Nick Easter, of Harlequins, in action against brother Mark’s Northampton — both sides could win silverware this season

England No8 Nick Easter is desperate to play his part in a unique family double this season by helping Harlequins become the Guinness Premiership champions.

Quins take on London Irish in the semi-finals at the Twickenham Stoop on Saturday with the winner going to Twickenham a week later to battle it out against either Bath or Leicester for the Premiership champions' trophy.

Six days later his brother Mark, 26, (below) will wear the Northampton No8 jersey in the European Challenge Cup Final against Bourgoin at Gloucester.

The Quins forward said: "Hopefully, we are both going to end up with silverware but we both have major challenges to overcome. He is up against Bourgoin while we have to take on a very dangerous London Irish side just to earn the right to be in the final.

"It is a long way to go and the Irish, like Quins, love to play at a high tempo and score tries and we have both registered a win in the League this season.

"It is a testament to the way Irish play and their strength of character that they haven't lost heavily all year and picked up more bonus points than any other team in the Premiership.

"We know we have to be on our mettle and it will come down to team work and intelligence because we know each other really well."

Quins already celebrated a "double" success of their own courtesy of flanker Chris Robshaw, 22, and centre Jordan Turner-Hall, 21, at last night's Premiership awards.

Robshaw, tipped to win England honours against Argentina this summer, was the Player of the Season while Turner-Hall, the outstanding midfield talent in England, was the Discovery of the Year. Glen Jackson, of Saracens, won the Gilbert Golden Boot for the second time in three seasons as top points scorer.

The Quins' awards highlight the giant strides Robshaw and Turner-Hall have made under Dean Richards, the director of rugby, who believes both "would not look out of place" in the England team.

Easter says the club's relegation in 2005 helped Robshaw and Turner-Hall come through into the first team squad thanks to Richards' faith in the Academy talent. The 30-year-old said: "Chris and Jordan are products of our outstanding Academy and fully deserve their awards.

"There are very few times, if ever, this season they have been bettered and both have featured in all of our best performances, including the home and away wins over Stade Francais in the Heineken Cup. Those wins were massive in terms of self-belief and it would have been easy for the young lads to have been in awe of the big names in the French side but we all believe in each other.

"I have absolute faith in the guy next to me because I know he is going to do his job and I won't let him down. Four years ago we were relegated from the Premiership and had a meeting after the final game which sealed our fate and we spoke about bouncing straight back up.

"Deano was there and it was obvious right from the start that he was going to make a big impact.

"Those youngsters have shown maturity way beyond their years this season and it's a good mix with the more experienced guys. If would be massive to win the title and the biggest achievement of my career."

Bath lock Justin Harrison has been cleared to play against Leicester in the other semi-final after being found not guilty of gouging Sarries captain Steve Borthwick in the final regular season match.
