Mark Ramprakash falls after heroics

7 May 2009

Middlesex quickly removed the wicket of Mark Ramprakash as they fought back in their County Championship clash against Surrey at the Brit Oval.

The former England star added just seven runs to his overnight 126 not out before he was caught by Alan Richardson off 20-year-old seamer Steven Finn.

Tim Murtagh then claimed the wicket of Murtaza Hussain for a duck when he was caught behind by keeper Ben Scott and Finn was on form again by removing Chris Schofield (47) to leave Surrey on 359 for eight.

At Edgbaston, Yorkshire continued to turn the screw against Warwickshire when they moved onto 374 for two, with Joe Sayers (149) and Anthony McGrath (122) both unbeaten.

County Championship: Div 1 — Trent Bridge: Somerset 138, Notts 153-4. Hove: Durham 380, Sussex 22-0. Edgbaston: Yorks 374-2 v Warwicks. New Road: Worcs 167, Lancs 289-7.
