Australia skipper Brad Haddin had no excuses after his team collapsed on their way to a sevenwicket Twenty20 defeat to Pakistan in Dubai.

Haddin, having won the toss, elected to bat and made a steady start with Shane Watson sharing a 42-run stand in 25 balls. But the match took a dramatic turn after Watson was bowled for 33 by a charged-up Umar Gul.

The paceman snared four wickets for just eight runs and wrist spinner Shahid Afridi grabbed three wickets to help Pakistan bowl out the Australians for a paltry 108.

Pakistan, spearheaded by Kamran Akram who hit an unbeaten 59 off 42 balls, reached the target in 16.2 overs.

Haddin said "It was a disappointing result. But then Pakistan played better. We have to accept the result."

Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul Haq said: "Shahid and Umar did the job for us."
