More to do: Paul Collingwood believes England still have unfinished business against the West Indies

England are desperate to make up for winter agony, insists Paul Collingwood

Paul Collingwood has revealed England are still motivated by revenge for their series defeat in the Caribbean, even though they won the First Test against the West Indies at Lord's by 10 wickets.

England went down 1-0 on their winter tour but struck back with a demolition of the West Indies inside three days last week.

However, Collingwood insists England are determined to complete the job on his home ground in the Second Test, starting on Thursday at Chester-le-Street.

He said: “It has been a fresh start again for the summer and we have started off really well. Confidence is sky high, we are developing all the time as a team and we are moving in the right direction.

“We have got a job to do this week. It is unfinished business, the West Indies beat us in their home patch 1-0 in the winter and we still have a job to do. We have one game to go and we need to put in that similar kind of performance and hopefully go 2-0 up.

“This is our last Test match before the Ashes and we know that confidence, winning formulas and momentum are huge to go into the series.”

Durham team-mate Graham Onions made a spectacular start to his international career with a
seven-wicket debut haul at Lord's and Collingwood said the pace ace is fired up for the Test on his home ground.

“Graham has made a fantastic start,” said Onions. “We are not going to get to carried away but I'm sure it will be a very special occasion for him to come out here and play for England.

“He is looking forward to this week. He bowled fantastically the other day and hopefully he'll come into this game full of confidence. He is a chirpy lad and he is certainly looking forward to it.”

Meanwhile, Nottinghamshire recovered from 50 for six to make 202 in their Friends Provident Trophy match against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl today after England World Twenty20 all-rounder Dimitri Mascarenhas took four for 39.

Friends Provident Trophy — Rose Bowl: Notts 202 v Hants 50-0 (11ov); Old Trafford: Northants 211-9 v Lancs; Edgbaston: Middx 165 v Warwicks; New Road: Leics 282-3 v Worcs 76-1 (13ov); Cardiff: Glamorgan 23-2 (11ov) v Essex.
