Football Association chairman Lord Triesman will emphasise the strength of English stadiums when the bid to host the World Cup is officially launched at Wembley Stadium.

David Beckham and Gordon Brown are expected at the event to kick off the campaign for either the 2018 or 2022 tournament.

Triesman, who is the bid chairman, will stress England's key advantage of not needing to build any major new grounds and also detail the economic benefits of hosting the World Cup. Fifteen cities have so far expressed interest in hosting games during the tournament.

Beckham, a bid vice-president, is due to play a major role in the launch and there will be messages of support from the three main political parties.

FIFA's executive committee will vote on the hosts for both the 2018 and 2022 tournaments in December next year. Spain, Russia, USA and Australia are also bidding.
