Jonny Wilkinson worth a ‘gamble’
Chris Jones19 May 2009
Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal insists signing injury-prone Jonny Wilkinson is a gamble worth taking.
Since drop-kicking the goal that won England the 2003 World Cup, the fly‑half has been plagued by injury and has not played since last September.
However, that has not stopped Toulon prising Wilkinson, 29, away from Newcastle on a £750,000 one-season deal.
Boudjellal said: “If it doesn't work out, we'll put it down to a moment of folly but who hasn't fantasised about a rugby player like Wilkinson, a great among the greats, a player who is out of this world?”

Jonny only plays for 30 per cent of every season, so this gamble is simply a total waste of money fror Toulon
