Dean Francis will quit the ring if he fails to land £25,000 prize

19.05.09

For Dean Francis, tonight's Prizefighter tournament at Earls Court will be a case of all or nothing.

Should the title favourite win the £25,000 top prize, he plans to challenge for a world championship. But defeat will have him hanging up his gloves.

The 35-year-old Francis (left), a former European super-middleweight champion and British and Commonwealth light-heavyweight belt holder, is one of eight cruiserweights contesting promoter Barry Hearn's answer to Twenty20 cricket with seven three-round fights taking place in the space of just one evening.

It is the ideal test for Francis, who disappointed himself with a desperate draw against the unheralded Joey Vegas in February.

He said: "If I don't win this I will retire. After my last fight I thought that if I didn't start doing things properly then I've got to quit.

"But I expect to take home the prize money, then fight for the British title and then for a world title."
