Troubled times: Max Mosley has admitted only three teams could meet the deadline for entries to be submitted for next year's world championship

Budget row could mean only three teams hit FIA deadline

The budget cap crisis in Formula One has deepened after FIA president Max Mosley admitted only three teams could meet the deadline for entries to be submitted for next year's world championship.

As Ferrari, fierce opponents of Mosley's proposed £40 million cap, today sought an injunction against the FIA in Paris, it became clear that other teams are stalling over confirming their participation next season. Entries have to be submitted by 29 May and Mosley said: "I think that we will probably get anywhere between three and six teams by the deadline."

New talks between the teams and the FIA are expected during the build-up to this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix in a bid to come up with a compromise.

Meanwhile, Aston Martin boss Dave Richards has revealed the "uncertainty" created by the budget row could affect his team's plans of signing up to Formula One.
