Justin Harrison has left Bath after requesting an early release from his contract, writes Chris Jones.
The former Australia lock's decision follows the launch of an internal investigation into an alleged incident during the club's end-of-season party.
Bath chief executive Bob Calleja began the inquiry following allegations that a number of the squad, including Harrison, were involved in a fracas with Harlequins players.
Bath, who have made no official comment, hope to complete their investigations this week.
But Harrison, 35, has left the club with immediate effect and will return to Australia as soon as possible. Harrison joined Bath from Ulster on a one-year deal last summer. He signed a 12-month contract extension in December.
The alleged incident, revealed by Standard Sport yesterday, took place in a London pub on 10 May, the day after Bath's Guinness Premiership semi-final defeat to Leicester.
In a separate development, Bath are also probing claims made in a Sunday newspaper that several players refused to provide samples for drugs tests following drinking sessions on the same weekend.
