Cristiano Ronaldo hints that he is staying with Manchester United

22 May 2009

Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped the clearest hint yet that he intends to reject a summer move to Real Madrid.

Once again speculation has started to surround the Manchester United winger (left), with plenty of pundits claiming a deal has already been done that will see the 24-year-old move to the Bernabeu Stadium this summer.

But Ronaldo has made a veiled statement which acknowledged the desires of Real presidential candidate Florentino Perez, who has vowed to build a superteam to rival Spain's current number one outfit Barcelona, but maintained a desire to stay at United.

"At the moment I am only thinking about the Champions League final independently of what will happen to me or my team-mates next season," said the winger.

"I am sure Perez would create an incredible team at Madrid but at the moment I am at United and I don't care about what happens there. I only care about what will happen next season at Manchester United."
