Impressive form: Roy Hodgson has had a fantastic season at Fulham

Roy Hodgson is manager of the year, says Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp believes Roy Hodgson should be rewarded with the manager of the year award after steering Fulham to the brink of a place in Europe.

The Cottagers will finish seventh in the Premier League and pip Spurs to the Europa League with a victory at home to Everton on Sunday.

Spurs boss Redknapp said: “We've had a good season but my vote for manager of the year would go to Roy Hodgson.

“I think he's done a fantastic job at Fulham. He took them from fourth from bottom last season when they had to win their last game of the season to stay up.

“And now they will probably get a European spot unless we can knock that out of the way on Sunday which we would like to do. But Roy's had a great season. David Moyes has done well with Everton and Sir Alex Ferguson has done an incredible job but I'd like to see one of the other lads win it for a change.”

Fulham striker Erik Nevland believes his side should be proud of their achievements whatever happens against Everton. He said: “It's already a brilliant season for Fulham.”

I agree with Harry's choice, but there is a downside. I can see Fulham struggling on too many fronts next season if they qualify for the waste-of-space Europa League (unintended consequences of success?) and having to play catch-up via a dozen or so Sunday afternoon Premier League games.

But good luck to the Cottagers and Roy Hodgson, they have done their supporters proud.
