Frank Lampard sets FA Cup final target

Simon Johnson
28 May 2009

Frank Lampard is keen to score in the FA Cup Final to bring his tally to 20 goals for the season.

The Chelsea star regularly hits that mark, he has done so for the last three seasons, and it is a total he uses as a target for his goal-scoring contribution to the club each year.

Having registered 19 times for the Blues so far this season, Lampard knows the Wembley clash with Everton is the final opportunity he will get to add to his tally this season.

Chelsea's recently crowned player of the year said: "I have set my stall out there and I can't fall too short. I have been stuck on 19 for quite a while now and hopefully there is still time.

"But I have scored some important goals this season and it hasn't been in every year that have I scored so many important ones - so maybe that makes this year my best for scoring anyway.

"I would like to get 20 and it would round it off in a nice way. I made it to 20 last year in the last game, the Champions League Final in Moscow, but I am not too bothered.

"If we win the game on Saturday I will be very happy regardless of the goals."

Lampard was last week voted Chelsea's Player of the Year for the third time, after what he believes has been his best overall season for the club.

He added: 'Personally the way I have played, I think it is my best, and to round it off we do need to win something and hopefully the FA Cup will be that."

why is it that we have to listen and read about the Champions leugue final result when in my opinion the better team won and NO BODY refers to the semi final game when Chelsea did not lose against Barca and Barca won on dubious ref decisions Man U should have taken a leaf out of Chelseas games and the so called UK football pundits should at least have made reference and give credit to Chelsea for thier games I know Barca must be relieved that the semi result isnt getting the attention it should They know that they were not the best team on the night and I would really like to see a rematch when Chelsea could field their best line up Marc

Mu were clearly overconfident of their fotballing
ability & it was pre sumed that the flike win over chelsea
meant that Mu would just need to attend this match to win, the press hyped them up as usual & it was over before we even reached the end of 1st half, the money these guys get paid ,thewy dont need to try harder , cos they are still getting paid even if they fail.
this is the british standard,, fail & still get paid !!! cushy life fo some !!!
