Stephane Sarrazin's late push pips Alan McNish to pole at the death
12 Jun 2009Peugeot will start the Le Mans 24 Hours on pole after Stephane Sarrazin edged out Allan McNish in qualifying.
The Scot, driving an Audi R15TDI, topped the timesheets with 11minutes of the fourhour session to go only for France's Sarrazin, in his Peugeot 908 Hdi FAP, to clock a lap of 3min 22.888sec.
That was 0.762sec quicker than McNish, who said: "Pole position would have been nice but it was a nip and tuck battle with Sarrazin I'm delighted with our overall performance."
