Cristiano Ronaldo's agent set to pocket £4m from transfer

Agent Jorge Mendes is set to make £4million for his role in Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Real Madrid.

The Portuguese has become one of football's most powerful negotiating figures after failing to break into the game as a player.

Mendes's part in Ronaldo's world record £80m transfer from Manchester United is the latest in a catalogue of deals involving the 43-year-old.

Although perhaps not quite achieving the same notoriety as super-agent Pini Zahavi, Mendes brokered Jose Mourinho's switch to Chelsea and subsequently made him the highest-paid coach in the world at Inter Milan.

He had previously attempted to open a series of bars, nightclubs and a video rental shop without success before meeting his first football client, goalkeeper Nuno, in a Portuguese bar.

A series of domestic deals followed and his first negotiation involving a club on these shores came when he organised the move of Toon flop Hugo Viana to Newcastle for £8m in 2002.

in relative to the amount, 4m isnt a huge amount, 5% only

dont agents usually get 10%+ ??

some of the agents also get % of the salary too?
