Fringe player: Ricardo Carvalho hardly featured for Chelsea in the second half of the season

Ricardo Carvalho criticises Chelsea

16 Jun 2009

Ricardo Carvalho has accused Chelsea of neglecting him when he was injured and says he would welcome a move to Inter Milan.

The Portugal defender is wanted by the Serie A champions, where his former boss Jose Mourinho is in charge.

Carvalho, 31, endured a frustrating campaign last season and injuries limited him to 18 appearances as the Blues finished third in the Premier League and won the FA Cup.

"I've been at Chelsea for five years, and four of them were very good, but this last season I spent a lot of time out injured," he said in the Daily Star.

"This last year I was injured a lot. I wasn't happy and Chelsea can't have been happy with my contribution.

"Furthermore, when I was injured the club should have given me more support. They should have helped me more, especially given my past four years at Chelsea.

"Their attitude disappointed me a little. I believe my time at Chelsea has come to an end and I'm very happy a big club like Inter are interested in me.

"It's a new challenge and I'd like to play in Italy."

Of former coach Mourinho, Carvalho added: "Mourinho's a coach who knows me better than anybody.

"Together we won big trophies. He's an ambitious coach and a perfectionist.

"Let's see if the clubs can reach an agreement. I'd love to work with Jose Mourinho again."

I think carvalho is a wonderful player.and i believe he wasn't treated fine.chelsea should have taking things easy with him,and he also shoul understand that the club was@ a tight corner-with scolari's mess, chelsea ran out of patience and they couldnt just tolerate his injuries.
I believe he will make this season,if he considers staying back, just like his bro. Deco did.
Ha ha
Good luck carvalho cabaka
Up blues.

Exactly, the last year not treated well - what a joke - when he regained his fitness the issue was Alex was playing at the top of his game so Ricardo was just annoyed, he thought he would just slip right in to the side again once fit, shame if his time at Chelsea ends this way as for the first 2-3 years of his time at Stamford he and Terry were hands down the No 1 partnership in the League if not Europe!

Obviously the most up to date medical treatment with most modern equipment and still being paid 80k a week is not enough for the gentleman.I would need to work 10 years to earn that one weeks wages no sick pay either. Its funny how two of Scolaris former Portugal charges are the only two whinging so Inter are welcome to them Jose be warned these are not the players you had at Porto.

Another portuguezer who wants out. All the good talents want to play elsewhere. It is about time the English game start playing the beautiful game and stop this hit& chase football and efficient playing style. We need to watch the version of the Pirlo's. seedorf, iniesta, xavi, messi, zidane etc, etc. Enough of the Gerards, kuyts, cattermole, fletchers, lampards, walcots, just give us the Ronaldinhos, kakas, robinho all in english version. Too much noise about commitment and running nonstop, please, next step!
