England have cancelled their November international against cash-strapped Fiji and replaced it with a Test against Australia.

According to an announcement from the Australian Rugby Union, England took the move in a bid to strengthen the financial position of Fijian rugby.

A "significant portion" of the estimated £7million surplus from England's game against Australia will be ploughed directly into Fijian rugby.

The Wallabies have also confirmed they will play Fiji in Australia on June 5 next year, a week before England arrive for a two-Test tour.

England will now open their autumn campaign against the Wallabies on November 7 followed by clashes with Argentina and then New Zealand.

Fiji will now play the United States instead of England on November 28.

England's game against Australia was confirmed this morning when the Wallabies announced they would be embarking on a Grand Slam tour of the home unions.

Australia will play Grand Slam champions Ireland at Croke Park on Sunday, November 15 before travelling to Scotland and then Wales.
