Sir Alex Ferguson quick to hail pace ace Antonio Valencia
1 Jul 2009Sir Alex Ferguson is convinced Antonio Valencia can soften the blow of losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid.
The Manchester United manager paid Wigan around £16million for the 23-year-old and has high hopes he can fill the void left by the Portugal international.
Ferguson said: "We have admired Antonio for some time now. I am sure his pace and ability will make a significant contribution to the team."
The winger, who spent two years at Wigan after joining for an undisclosed fee, said: "I am thrilled to have the chance to challenge for the biggest honours in club football."
