John Terry
Wanted man: Manchester City want to take John Terry to Eastlands

Another big-bucks Manchester City bid for John Terry won't unnerve Chelsea

Chelsea remain unconcerned by Manchester City's pursuit of John Terry, even though he is yet to confirm he is not interested in a move to Eastlands Stadium.

City are expected to make a new £40million bid in the next few days, despite being told for the second time in six months last week that the defender is not for sale.

Terry is still on holiday and doesn't report back for pre-season until Thursday but Chelsea have been encouraged by the 28-year-old's comments about the importance of the squad uniting behind new Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti, with whom he has spoken over the telephone, and are convinced he will stay.

Manchester City are prepared to offer Terry around £200,000 a week, yet there is a suspicion he is using the situation to just get better terms at Chelsea.

He last signed a new deal two years ago which committed him to the club until 2012 and took his salary to £135,000 a week but now may be looking for one last big contract to tie him to the club for the rest of his career.

Chelsea also expect to conclude negotiations with Ashley Cole shortly which would see the left-back earn a five-year £120,000-a-week deal.

John Terry is an average defender at best. So the money that is being offered is absolutely obscene.

And as for this pillar of society captaining the National team, Bobby Moore must be turning in his grave.

I have a lot of sympathy for John Terry - people are bound to ask if he is worth that extra £65k a week but you have to keep in mind that these days he has to subsidise his Mum's shopping trips....

Frankly the amounts now being offered to these "top" stars are obscene and are distancing them from us fans... I never thought it would happen but I'm starting to lose interest....

Cole is not worth £120,000 a week, and if he is not happy with what he already earns let him go.If he allegedly paid women thousands to keep quiet after he had slept with them,it tells me this guy already has more money than sense.
