We're not in Australia for a holiday, insists Roy Hodgson

06.07.09

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has dismissed suggestions his team are treating their three-match tour of Australia as "a holiday".

Although the players are still coping with jetlag after arriving from London on Saturday, Hodgson put them through a tough training session today. Fulham have started their pre-season early because their first Europa League match is at the end of the month.

Hodgson said: "This trip is anything but a holiday - it's very hard work. The jetlag has been a slight problem but we're working hard to get accustomed to that and holiday would be the last word I would use. It's more like a boot camp than a holiday."

Fulham's first game is on Wednesday against Gold Coast United, who play in the ALeague. Hodgson said: "We expect a very tough game."
