Fabio Capello
Winning ways: England have a 100 per cent record in competitive games since Capello took charge

Fabio Capello: I'm winning England battle

Fabio Capello claims he has helped England get over their fear of playing at Wembley.

The Italian head coach watched England win his first match in charge 18 months ago but sensed the team struggled to cope with the expectations of fans.

He added. "After we played Switzerland, I understood why the team had a problem. The problem was Wembley. The problem was no confidence. The problem was the group.

"There were a lot of problems but I've been working on these things and the result has been okay so far."

England have a 100 per cent record in competitive games since Capello took charge and he insists they have a chance to win the World Cup in South Africa next year if they steer clear of injuries.

He added: "Avoiding injuries is really, really important. Some players are the base of the team. I hope that they will be fit.

"I remember I played a Champions League Final without four key players through injury and I lost. I hope that I won't experience the same here."

Capello was in South Africa last month to search out a suitable World Cup base for England and he also watched Brazil win the Confederations Cup to become favourites to win the World Cup.

He said: "In the history of football, Brazil are the best team in the world - the number of World Cups they've won shows that."

Capello also confirmed that if England qualify early for the finals then he may spring some surprises in their remaining games.

"It's possible that we will experiment with the line-up because that's really important," he said.
