Levy hopes move has gone like Clockwork

Wild excitement grips Radlett as word of a new arrival spreads throughout plush Hertfordshire. Daniel Levy, the Tottenham chairman, has moved to a house there, in the same road as Alison Moyet.

Of Alf's post-Yazoo solo oeuvre, the track that may resonate with Spurs followers, in a Levy context, is All Cried Out.

Among Radlett's other distinctions is that much of A Clockwork Orange, directed by local eccentric Stanley Kubrick, was shot there.

Indeed, it's rumoured that Levy chose it because he is a Droog wannabe and plans to stroll through town wearing a bowler to disguise the pointiness of that hairless little bonce.

Until the club press office confirms this, it's probably safest to dismiss it as mischievous rot.

I've got little sympathy for hacked-off Tessa

For any of you without Sky Sports, and resentful at being unable to watch the Ashes live, a tiny drop of consolation.

The minister responsible for reneging on predecessor Chris Smith's promise to keep live home Tests on terrestrial TV is Tessa Jowell, who as culture, media and sport secretary did a private deal with Rupert Murdoch's lad James.

So it has the flavour of delicious rough justice that Tessa, now Olympics minister, is among those whose mobile phones were allegedly hacked into by News of the World reporters.

Who knew that loyalty could be in such short supply in dealings with the Murdoch empire?

Sky in a bit of a hot spot over innovation

As for Sky's Ashes coverage, this ploughs the familiar ground of stolid competence. With David "Bumble" Lloyd in place of Richie Benaud, it was hardly odds-on to outdo C4's efforts in 2005. Sky has one technical innovation, though.

When reviewing disputed decisions, the producer now uses the mysterious "Hot Spot" a negative image of the frame and a technique so cutting edge that Doctor Who was using it for victims of Dalek fire in 1964.

Its purpose is beyond me. If it's also beyond the producer, as I suspect, he is reminded that Doctor Who is now filmed in Cardiff, so there will be a phalanx of special effects nerds a quick hop from Sophia Gardens who should be able to explain.

It's no surprise to get a Frosty reception

Sir David Frost is quite the Zelig of sport. Turn on the telly and there the old boy is, perched ingratiatingly on the shoulder of history.

After Sunday's Royal Box appearance at Wimbledon, Sir David popped up on Sky yesterday to offer a warm hello, good morning and welcome to the Ashes.

No doubt he'll be at Turnberry for The Open, followed by Henley and Glorious Goodwood. As the son-in-law of a Duke, it's natural to gravitate towards the more elegant events.

As an erstwhile establishment scourge, however, he is also a man of the people. So we expect to see him redressing the social balance with a trip to the world darts.

They do a lovely cup of Pimm's up Ally Pally. So long as you remember to take your own Pimm's. And glass.
