Juan Carlos Ferrero's special sinks the Germans
13 Jul 2009Juan Carlos Ferrero was the hero for Spain as he won the deciding rubber against Germany to clinch his country a place in the semi-finals of the Davis Cup.
Ferrero's 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Andreas Beck in Marbella sealed a 32 win and a clash with Israel.
The move vindicated the late decision by Spanish captain Albert Costa to play Ferrero in the match rather than Tommy Robredo.
Ferrero said: "It's amazing what I felt on the court. It's a long time since I played Davis Cup competition and this tie for me was very special."
