Andy Murray in the swing of things in Montreal

14.08.09

ANDY MURRAY has the feelgood factor going into tonight's quarter-final of the Montreal Masters against world No8 Nikolay Davydenko.

Despite testing hot conditions, the Briton swept through with a comprehensive 6-1, 6-3 win over Spain's Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Murray's victory came after just one hour and 17 minutes and he sad: "I've had two good wins and I knew it would be tough but I played well.

"This is my best surface. I can swing more freely at the ball as it sits up at a nice height. I felt confident in this match. I'm hitting the ball really well from the back of the court."

Davydenko beat Chile's Fernando Gonzalez 7-6, 7-5 to book his place in the quarter-finals, which, for the first time for a tournament on the men's tour, is made up exclusively of the world's top eight players.
